Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Morning. Early drive from Kitale, about 30 minutes, to arrive as the swamp wakes. Walk the boardwalk to a treehouse hide.

Midday. Slow walk along the swamp edge looking for De Brazza's monkeys, colobus and turacos. Picnic lunch.

Afternoon. One more hide session as the light softens, then back to Kitale.

Is Saiwa really the smallest national park Kenya has?

It is often called that, at about 3 square kilometres. All of it is explored on foot.

Will I see a sitatunga?

Chances are good early and late in the day from the hides. Sightings are never promised.

How do I get to Kitale?

Fly from Nairobi to Eldoret, about an hour, then drive about 1.5 hours to Kitale.

What should I bring?

Binoculars, neutral clothes, insect repellent and a light rain jacket.

Is it good for children?

Yes for patient children. The boardwalks are easy but the hides need quiet.

Can I add Mount Elgon?

Yes. Mount Elgon National Park is about an hour from Kitale and fits a second day.
