Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Selenkay conservancy is Maasai land north of Amboseli where guests can walk and drive at night. Lujui Kenya Travels books a small tented camp there and adds a full day in Amboseli National Park.

Day by day

Day 1. Drive from Nairobi to Selenkay, about 4 hours via Namanga road and the last stretch on dirt tracks. Afternoon game drive around the camp waterhole.

Day 2. Full day in Amboseli National Park, about an hour away, for the swamps and big herds. Return for a night drive in search of aardwolf, genets and lions.

Day 3. Morning walk with a Maasai guide to learn tracks and plants, then the drive back to Nairobi.

Yes, Selenkay is the conservancy many people find under that name. The exact camp is subject to availability, arranged on request.

What animals live in Selenkay?

Elephants, giraffes, gerenuk, zebra and lions, with cheetah seen at times. Sightings are never guaranteed.

Why choose a conservancy over the park?

Fewer vehicles, walks and night drives, none of which are allowed inside Amboseli itself.

How long is the drive?

About 4 hours from Nairobi. A light aircraft to a nearby airstrip takes about 1 hour.

Can children join the walks?

Most camps allow walks from about age 12. Younger children can join game drives.

When is the best time?

June to October and January to March are dry and good for game. Short rains in November bring green grass and fewer guests.
