When is the best season?

June to October and January to March. Animals gather at waterholes in the dry months.

What should I pack?

Light layers, a warm top for the evening, a hat, sunscreen and binoculars.

Are park fees included?

Yes. Fees for the Taita Hills sanctuary and Tsavo West are covered. They are set by the parks and can change.

How far is the drive?

About 3 hours 30 minutes to Taita Hills and 2 to 3 hours on to Tsavo West. The last leg back is about 4 to 5 hours.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. Short drives and a lodge full of animals keep kids busy. Some lodges set age limits, which your quote confirms.

Is saltlick and tsavo west better than Amboseli?

Amboseli is about elephants and Kilimanjaro. Taita Hills and Tsavo West give you a waterhole lodge, springs and lava. A tsavo west safari from coast hotels is also a shorter drive.
