Day 1. Drive from Nairobi to Amboseli, about 4 to 5 hours. Afternoon game drive by the swamps.

Day 2. Full day in Amboseli. Sunrise for Kilimanjaro, then Observation Hill and the elephant herds.

Day 3. Drive via Kimana to Tsavo West, about 3 hours. Walk at Mzima Springs to see hippos and fish through the clear water.

Day 4. Morning drive past the Shetani lava flow, then back to Nairobi via Mtito Andei, about 5 hours.

Is Tsavo West busy?

No. It is one of Kenya's largest parks and sees far fewer vehicles than the Mara.

Can I end in Mombasa instead of Nairobi?

Yes. Tsavo West is about 4 to 5 hours from Mombasa, so the trip can finish at the coast.

When is the best season?

June to October and January to March are dry. Animals gather near water and roads are easier.
