Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Day 1. Drive north from Nairobi, about 3 hours. Lunch at the lodge, then an afternoon on the river with your guide.

Day 2. Early start for the morning rise on a different stretch of river. Lunch, then the drive back to Nairobi.

Which trout live here?

Mostly rainbow trout, with brown trout on some streams. Fish are wild and often small but strong.

Is a licence needed?

Yes. Trout fishing needs a licence from the fisheries office. Your guide helps arrange it.

Can I also try fly fishing aberdares streams?

Yes. The Aberdares are about 2 hours away and add a day on different water.

When is the best season?

Dry months from January to March and July to October, when rivers run clear.

Do I need my own gear?

Bring your own if you have it. Rods and flies can be hired on request.

Is it catch and release?

Catch and release is encouraged on most beats. Some lodges cook a fish for dinner on request.
