Day 1. Early pickup in Nairobi. Drive around the eastern side of Mount Kenya. Lunch at camp, then a short evening game drive.

Day 2. Full day in the park. Visit the rhino sanctuary, the Tana River and the Adamson memorial. Look for lions, elephants, Grevy's zebra and reticulated giraffe.

Day 3. Sunrise drive by the rivers and swamps. Breakfast, then the long drive back to Nairobi.

Why is Meru so quiet?

It is far from the main routes and was hit by poaching years ago. Wildlife has come back well, but visitors have not caught up.

Can I fly instead of drive?

Yes. Light aircraft fly from Wilson Airport to the park airstrip. Lujui Kenya Travels can quote it.

Is it hot in Meru?

Yes. It is lower and warmer than central Kenya. Pack light clothes and a hat.

When is the best time to visit?

June to October and January to March. The rains make some tracks hard to use.
