What are the singing wells?

In dry months, Samburu herders draw water from deep wells by hand and sing to their animals. Visits depend on the season and the herders.

What is Reteti?

A community owned sanctuary that rescues and raises orphaned elephants before returning them to the wild herds of Namunyak.

When is the best season?

June to October and January to March. The wells are busiest in the dry months.

How do I get there?

A charter or scheduled flight from Wilson takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Driving takes a long day.

Can children come?

Yes. Many guests bring older children. Age rules apply for walks.

How does namunyak conservancy compare to Samburu National Reserve?

Namunyak has fewer vehicles, walking safaris and deep community links. The reserve has easier access and more lodges.
