Where can you see black rhino by day, by night and from horseback?

This lewa conservancy safari flies you from Nairobi to Lewa, a private reserve below Mount Kenya that has done much to bring back the black rhino. Lujui Kenya Travels adds a day on Borana next door, where the fence between the two has come down.

Is Lewa good for seeing rhino?

Yes. Lewa and Borana protect both black and white rhino. Sightings over a few days of drives are very likely.

When is the best season?

June to October and late December to March are dry. April and May bring rain and some camps close.

Do I need riding experience?

Beginners can join short guided rides. Longer rides on Borana suit confident riders.

How do I get there?

A scheduled or charter flight from Wilson takes about 1 hour. By road it is about 5 hours via Nanyuki.

Can children come?

Yes. Many camps welcome families and run activities for kids. Age rules apply for walks and rides.

How does borana conservancy compare to Lewa?

They share one open landscape. Lewa is better known for its rhino work, while Borana is hillier and great for riding.
