Day 1. Long drive from Nairobi, about 7 to 8 hours, the last stretch on rough tracks. Set up camp near the river.

Day 2. Explore the inselbergs and the Tana River with a ranger. Look for lesser kudu, gerenuk, elephants and crocodiles.

Day 3. Visit Kampi ya Simba, the old camp of George Adamson, with the graves nearby. Afternoon along the river.

Day 4. Break camp and drive back to Nairobi.

Who was George Adamson?

A conservationist who lived at Kora for many years, returning lions to the wild. He is buried at his old camp.

Will I see much wildlife?

Kora is about wilderness more than numbers. Expect dry country antelope, elephants, hippos and crocodiles, with big cats rare.

When is the best season?

June to October and January to March. Rain can close the tracks.

Is a kora safari safe?
