The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Morning. Drive west on the Bondo road, about 40 minutes. Meet the community guide at kit mikayi rock.

Midday. Walk around and up the rocks. Hear about the legend and the prayer groups that still use the caves.

Afternoon. Stop at the Kisumu lakefront for lunch, then back to your hotel.

What does Kit Mikayi mean?

In Dholuo it means the stone of the first wife. The legend links the rock to a man and his first wife.

Can I climb to the top?

Part way with the guide. Some sections are steep, so wear shoes with grip.

How far is it from Kisumu?

About 30 km, or 40 minutes by road.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes. Children enjoy the caves at the base. Keep them close on the higher rocks.

When is the best time to go?

Mornings are cooler and the light is good for photos.

Can I combine it with the Kogelo trip?

Yes. Kogelo is further west on the same side of Kisumu and makes a full day.
