The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. When is the best time for a Lake Victoria weekend?

Kisumu is warm all year. June to September and December to February are the drier stretches. Afternoon storms are common in the rains but pass quickly.

What should I pack?

Light cotton clothes, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent for the lake evenings.

Are entry fees included?

Yes. The boat ride and the entry fees at the Impala Sanctuary and Kit Mikayi are in the price.

How far is Kisumu from Nairobi?

About 50 minutes by air or six to seven hours by road. Most guests fly in and use the driver once in Kisumu.

Is it child friendly?

Yes. Children wear life jackets on the boat. Ask for family rooms when you book.

How does it compare to a coast weekend?

It is closer, cheaper and calmer than Diani or Mombasa. You swap the ocean for fresh lake food and big Western Kenya skies.
