Day 1. Arrive at JKIA and rest in Nairobi.

Day 2. Fly to the Mara. Afternoon game drive.

Day 3. Full day in the Mara.

Day 4. Morning drive, fly to Nairobi and on to Entebbe, about one hour. Night in Entebbe.

Day 5. Fly to Kihihi and transfer to Bwindi.

Day 6. Gorilla trek with rangers. One hour with the family once found.

When is the best time for Mara and Bwindi?

June to September and December to February are drier in both places. Bwindi is a rainforest, so rain can fall any day.

What should I pack?

Waterproof boots, gardening gloves for vines, a rain jacket, long sleeves and layers for the Mara.

Are fees included?

Yes. The gorilla permit and Mara fees are included. Porter fees are paid locally.

How long is the travel?

About one hour from Nairobi to Entebbe and about one and a half hours on to Kihihi, then a short drive.

Is there an age limit?

Gorilla trekking needs a minimum age of 15. Younger children can do the Mara section.

How does Uganda compare with Rwanda for gorillas?

Uganda permits cost less and Bwindi feels wilder. Rwanda is quicker to reach from Kigali but the permit costs more.
