Day 1. Arrive in Nairobi. Night at a city hotel.

Day 2. Drive to the Masai Mara. Evening game drive.

Day 3. Full day in the Mara.

Day 4. Morning drive, then return to Nairobi or fly to Wilson.

Day 5. Drive to the Namanga border, about 2 hours 30 minutes. Clear immigration and continue to Arusha. Afternoon at the Kikuletwa hot springs.

Day 6. Drive via the Ngorongoro highlands to the central Serengeti.

How does the border crossing work?

You stop at the Namanga one stop border post, get stamped out of Kenya and into Tanzania in one building, then meet your Tanzanian guide.

Why change vehicles at the border?

Kenyan safari vehicles cannot run game drives in Tanzanian parks, so a Tanzanian vehicle takes over.

Do I need a yellow fever card?

Tanzania may ask for one when you arrive from Kenya. Carry it to be safe.

When is the best time?

July to October for the Mara. December to March for the calving season in the southern Serengeti.
