Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. What is the legend of Simbi Nyaima?

It is said a village refused food and shelter to an old woman. A storm came and the village sank, leaving the lake.

Will I see flamingos?

Lesser flamingos visit some months. Numbers change with the water, so sightings are not promised.

Can I swim in the lake?

No. The water is alkaline and locals ask visitors to respect the site.

How far is it from Kisumu?

About 2 hours by road. Homa Bay town is about 40 minutes further.

Is it good for children?

Yes. The walk around the lake is flat and short.

Can I make it an overnight trip?

Yes. A night in Homa Bay allows a morning at Ruma National Park.
