Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. When is whale season Diani and Watamu share?

July to October, with peak sightings in August and September.

What should I bring?

A windproof jacket, sunscreen, a hat, a zoom lens and seasickness tablets.

Are fees included?

Yes. The boat, guide and any marine fees are covered. KWS sets marine fees and they can change.

How far out do the boats go?

Usually a few kilometres beyond the reef. Most hotels are 10 to 20 minutes from the launch point.

Is it safe for children?

Yes with life jackets on. The sea can be choppy in this season, so children who get seasick may struggle.

Should I go from Diani or see humpback whales Watamu side?

Both see whales. Watamu has a strong research community. Diani suits you if you are already staying on the south coast.
