The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Thimlich Ohinga is a group of dry stone enclosures in Migori County and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lujui Kenya Travels plans this two day trip from Kisumu with a guide who explains how they were built.

Day 1. Drive south from Kisumu through Kisii country to Migori, about 4 hours. Check in and rest.

Day 2. Morning at thimlich ohinga migori with a site guide. Walk the enclosures and learn how the dry stone walls Kenya is proud of were built. Drive back to Kisumu.

How old is Thimlich Ohinga?

The main walls are thought to be around 500 years old.

What were the enclosures used for?

They protected families and livestock. Inside are spaces for houses, cattle pens and workshops.

How far is it from Kisumu?

About 4 hours by road. From Migori town it is about an hour.

Is there much walking?

Light walking on uneven ground. Wear shoes with grip.

When is the best time to go?

June to September and December to February are drier for the roads.

Can I add Tabaka soapstone?

Yes. Tabaka is near Kisii on the same route and fits on the drive south.
