The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. He really has a heart of gold,he is very kind and will go beyond to make sure we see all the animals... He's just a 10/10... Also we had a great group all together. Day 1. Drive north to Timau, about 4 hours, then up a steep 4x4 track through farms and forest to the lake, about 2 hours. Evening fishing from the shore.

Day 2. Fish Rutundu from the boat or walk to nearby Lake Alice for a full day on wilder water.

Day 3. Morning fishing, then the drive back to Nairobi.

Is a stay at Rutundu log cabins possible?

Yes. The rutundu log cabins are subject to availability, arranged on request.

What fish are in the lake?

Rainbow trout in Rutundu and brown trout in some years. Fish are wild and can be large.

How cold does it get?

Nights drop close to freezing. Cabins have fires and warm bedding.

How rough is the road?

The last part is a steep 4x4 track. A helicopter transfer is possible and quoted on request.

Do I need to fish?

No. Many guests come for the walks, the views and the quiet.

When is the best time?

January to March and July to October for dry tracks and clear mornings.
