Zanzibar is part of Tanzania, so most visitors need a Tanzania visa. Many nationalities apply online or get one on arrival.

Is there anything else Zanzibar asks for?

Yes. Visitors must buy the local Zanzibar travel insurance cover online before arrival. Carry your yellow fever card too, as you are flying in from Kenya.

Which side of Zanzibar is best?

The north has deep water at all tides. The east coast is quieter but the tide goes far out.

When is the best time?

June to October is dry in both places. Avoid April and May, the long rains.
