Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. When is the best time to paddle?

Calm mornings, especially from October to March when winds are lighter. Trips are timed to the tide.

What should I wear?

Swimwear, a rash vest, a hat and reef shoes. Bring a dry bag for your phone.

Are hire fees included?

Yes. Board and kayak hire, which run about KES 3,000 to 5,000, are covered.

How far is the Kongo River from my hotel?

It is at the north end of Diani, 10 to 25 minutes from most hotels.

Can kids join and is it safe?

Yes with life jackets on. Children from about 8 paddle in a double kayak with an adult.

How does it compare with sea kayaking Kenya open water trips?

Open water trips are for confident paddlers. This one stays in sheltered water, so beginners feel at ease.
