Accommodation: The giraffe hills Mara camp was amazing. The host are really very kind(Mzee, Diana and the whole equipe)☺️... Bless their soul. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean... The breakfast and dinner was on time and delicious... We even had a bonfire. Our tour guide: Cephas is the best tour guide and driver I've ever meet. He made our safari most memorable. Morning. Early pickup and boarding at first light. Lines go out as you cross the reef.

Midday. Troll for tuna, wahoo, dorado and in season a sailfish Diani anglers dream about. The crew handles the gear.

Afternoon. Head back to shore with photos of your catch. Billfish are tagged and released. Some of the table fish can be cooked at your hotel.

When is the best season?

November to March is peak billfish season. Tuna and wahoo can be caught most of the year.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, a hat, polarised sunglasses, a light jacket and seasickness tablets.

Are permits and fees included?

Yes. Any fishing permit needed is in your price. There are no park fees.

How far out do you go?

Deep water starts a few kilometres off the reef. The launch is 10 to 20 minutes from most hotels.

Can children come and is it safe?

Yes. Life jackets are on board and the crew is experienced. Children from about 8 enjoy it if they do not get seasick.

How does it compare with shimoni fishing?

Shimoni further south is known for big billfish and longer trips. Diani is closer and better for a half day.
