Day by day

Day 1. Drive from Nairobi to Amboseli, about 4 to 5 hours. Afternoon game drive with Kilimanjaro behind the elephants.

Day 2. Full day in Amboseli with a climb up Observation Hill.

Day 3. Drive to Tsavo West via Kimana, about 3 hours. Walk at Mzima Springs and see the Shetani lava flow.

Day 4. Cross to Tsavo East through the Taita area. Afternoon drive to look for red elephants near Aruba Dam.

Day 5. Morning drive past Mudanda Rock, then on to the Mombasa coast, about 3 hours. Check in at your beach hotel.

Day 6. Free beach day. Optional boat trip or a walk around Fort Jesus and Old Town.

Day 7. Breakfast, then transfer to Moi International Airport or the SGR station in Mombasa.

How do I get back to Nairobi after the beach?

A one hour flight from Mombasa or the SGR train, about 5 to 6 hours. Lujui Kenya Travels can book either.

Can I add more beach days?

Yes. Extra nights in Mombasa, Diani or Watamu can be added to your quote.

Is this trip good for children?

Yes. Driving days are broken up and the beach gives kids time to play. Children pay lower park fees.

Which months work best?

June to October and December to March. April and May bring the long rains to both parks and the coast.
